marathon

As a dedicated HIV/AIDS minister, I felt called to do more than my usual: advocate, minister, teach, and raise awareness.

A major part of what I do involves helping people stretch beyond their comfort zones to think about ways they can work to stop the spread of HIV, support those living with HIV and address the taboos that contribute to the spread of this disease.

2009 was the year that I stretched far beyond my comfort zone. Throughout the spring and summer, I trained and then participated in a 26.2 mile run in Maui to raise money to stop HIV/AIDS.

2009 was my year to put my sweat, my energy, my strength, my wind, where my mouth is. It's time for me to model what I hope people will do which is push beyond their comfort zone, inspire others to get involved, and commit to show up and engage whatever comes.
